PFLAG Central Coast & Central Coast Pride are currently unable to provide parents with face to face support group meetings during the Covid 19 lockdown so we are moving from local physical support group meetings into online to be able to continue supporting parents and families during Covid 19.
We are the parents, grandparents and carers of LGBTIQ people who are a part of our community. Some of our families may be large, some small. Some of us are married, some divorced, some single. Our occupations are as varied as our personalities and educational levels. HOWEVER We do have a common bond, a young person we love and care for is LGBTIQ.
Since 2011 our group has provided support via telephone calls, emails, texts, Facebook messaging as well as meeting in person. Ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of families has always been our highest priority.
FAMILY MEETING- REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY. ALL PARENTS & CARERS OF LGBTIQ KIDS WELCOME
All online networking & support groups will have strict security in place to ensure that the group is safe for parents, grandparents and caregivers supporting their LGBTIQ families.
Social isolation within the LGBTIQ community has long been recognised as a concern and parents and families also share this isolation however there are many parents willing to support other families. It is crucial for families and friends to have accurate, unbiased information regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer issues.
As proud parents of LGBTIQ people, our lives have been enriched by reaching an understanding and acceptance of our gay children and embracing their diversity. It is our goal to bring this understanding and acceptance of diversity to the broader community. We want to achieve the same rights and opportunities for our LGBTIQ kids as are enjoyed by other Australians. We as parents & families of LGBTIQ kids wish to join together to appeal to the public conscience.
Register for our next upcoming meeting below (As per current COVID-19 this will be online and require a computer, tablet or smart phone and internet access.
We are not a counseling service and only offer peer-to-peer support services in line with PFLAG organisations across the Globe. Support for young people who identify as LGBTIQ+
